I have just started playing mafia wars and all my friends are more experienced than me. Whats the best way to become better at mafia wars quickly?

My first question is how do you ask for help on a job in Mafia Wars in the first place?

Secondly, sometimes I help out other friends with jobs, i get some exp and money, but what do they get. Essentially, if I asked my friends for help on a job, what would I get if they helped out?

I have a friend who is in my Mafia in Mafia wars. We are at the same level. My energy takes 5 minutes to recycle. His only takes 3 minutes. Why the difference?

I've been playing mafia wars on facebook for a few weeks now but whats really starting to annoy me is that every time i repair my properties i come back an hour later and they've been attacked constantly and AGAIN cost a fortune to repair. Is there any way to prevent this without increasing your mafia family as I don't have others to add. My defence is 50 and still not helping. Any help would be much appreciated
